Figure Paintings 2021-2022
Watercolor Artworks by Mary-Lou Ploss
I feel truly alive, when my heart is filled with warm feelings and in awe of life’s beauty. Conscious of the present moment. My art is about capturing and sometimes yearning for these precious moments as an abstract expression of gratitude, joy, love and hope among others.
A lot of my figure paintings begin either by searching for an expression and posture that expresses a certain feeling or by stumbling over a portrait photograph which draws me in without initially knowing why. Once the inital sketch is done, I start my dance with watercolors. A game which is about coincidences, balancing controll and letting go, and trust in the medium and its beautiful unpredictability. So basically the same as life itself.
